PITTSBURGH, PA. – With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Hilbert's Jon Davison gave the visitors a tally on the score board before the final horn sounded which gave La Roche College a 4-1 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory.
La Roche improved to 6-2 and secured a first round home game in the AMCC play-offs as the third seed. Hilbert (4-4) is currently in a tie for 5th place with one game remaining.
The RedHawks went to intermission holding a 2-0 lead after two different La Roche players connected for scores. Statistically, Hilbert had more chances (8 vs. 6 shots) and force the La Roche keeper into more saves (5) by the break. Hilbert's
Jeremy Kraska was credited with two saves (six shots) during his 45-minutes protecting the frame.
Freshman
Brandon Henry patrolled the net for Hilbert the second half and was credited with three saves while giving up the two back-to-back goals eleven minutes apart. La Roche took a 4-0 lead by the 62nd minute. But Davison's score in the 88th minute prevented a shut-out loss for Hilbert.
Hilbert outshot La Roche (16-14) and
Michael Gee led all players with five shots. The senior defender was also credited with the assist on Davison's goal.
The Hawks (6-9) travel to Penn State Behrend (13-4-1, 7-1) October 29th for their last regular season game before the AMCC play-offs.
