Hilbert College Athletics

Emily Gawlak earned her first Hawk of the Week honor for her efforts in the women’s lacrosse team’s season opener over the weekend.
 
The freshman midfielder led Hilbert with six goals in their 18-10 defeat to Franciscan University in AMCC action.   After the South Buffalo native won 12 of Hilbert’s 16 draw controls, she weaved her way towards the goal and led the Hawks with 13 shots.
 
Gawlak converted 3-of-5 free position shots, scoring half her goals in a 1 v 1 situation and scooped one ground ball.
 
The week’s honor marks the third time Gawlak has been recognized for her efforts wearing the royal and white.  She previously earned two honors during the basketball season.
