Shannon Rogers was ready to play this week as she earned her second Hawk of the Week honor during her senior-year swing. Rogers’ efforts in the paint helped the women’s basketball team qualify for their 1st AMCC post-season tournament in 11 seasons.
The 5-10 forward scored 28 points, hitting 11-of-17 field goals (64.7%) and 6-of-8 free throws (75%), while grabbing 23 rebounds. She averaged a double-double for the week (14 points/11.5 rebounds) when Hilbert went 1-1 and earned the 6th seed in the post-season tourney.Â
Rogers scored 10 points, pulled-down 12 rebounds and was credited with three steals in Hilbert’s 68-48 victory over Penn State Behrend. Three days later, the Pioneer high school product tossed in 18 points, sinking 6 of her 8 attempts from the floor. She also repeated that performance at the foul line with an all-around 75% shooting accuracy. Rogers also matched her offensive rebounding efforts from the Wednesday night game, when she paired four offensive rebounds with seven (11 total) in the Hawks’ loss to Mt. Aloysius.
Rogers is currently ranked 4th in the AMCCÂ in offensive rebounds per game (3.3) and 6th in overall rebounding (8.2). Â She averages 9.6 points per game heading into the post-season.
