Jalen Smith’s offensive production helped the Hawks get back on the winning track as he earned his sixth career Hawk of the Week honor today and his third of the 2016-17 season.

Smith averaged 25 points per game as Hilbert went 2-0 on the week and evened their AMCC record back at 3-3 before the holiday break. He scored 50 points behind a 46% field goal shooting with a soft touch of 46 beyond the arc.  The Batavia native hit 16 of his 19 free throw attempts (84%) and averaged three rebounds, 1.5 steals as well as 1 assist per game.

Smith came off the bench to ignite the Hawks’ offense against cross-town rival D’Youville College and his 28 points carried Hilbert to their first Buffalo Cup victory.  He sank 50% of all his field goal attempts, sinking 9 of 18 from the floor with a 6-of-12 conversion behind the 3-point line.  The 6-1 southpaw scored 14 second-half points which helped the Hawks run away with the victory at Franciscan.  He was deadly at the charity stripe as he finished with 12-of-13 makes for the 22 point performance.

The junior guard is ranked 2nd in the AMCC in scoring (19.4 ppg), 10th in FT% (77.8) and 11th in 3pt FG% (38.2).
