Reinholz, John

John Reinholz

Professor Reinholz began at Hilbert College as an adjunct professor in January 2008 and transitioned into a full-time professor of forensics/crime scene investigation in the fall of 2015.

Professor Reinholz’s background in Criminal Justice and Forensics was shaped through his 20-year career with the New York State Police, which began in March of 1987. He served the State Police as a Trooper, Sergeant, Station Commander, Zone Sergeant and Criminal Investigator. Professor Reinholz was stationed in a number of areas throughout New York State; including Binghamton, Corning, Long Island, Rochester, Fredonia, Albany, Buffalo, and the Catskill Region. He feels these assignments have provided him the opportunity to understand the dynamics of the criminal justice system in rural, suburban, and urban settings. Professor Reinholz retired from the State Police in May of 2007.

Prior to entering employment with the NY State Police, Professor Reinholz attended SUNY Fredonia as a student/athlete where he played on the men’s basketball team. Aside from playing college basketball, Professor Reinholz coached boys and girls high school basketball in WNY for 16 seasons including four years as the varsity boys coach at Nichols School (2012-2016) and five years as the varsity boys coach at Hamburg High School (2017-2022).
