Justin Maxwell

Assistant men’s basketball coach Justin Maxwell returns for his third season on the Hawks bench after arriving on campus in September of 2012. Maxwell will assist with all components of the program while focusing on alumni relations, film exchange, recruiting, player development, and strength and conditioning.

A graduate assistant coach with the men’s basketball program at NCAA Division I Canisius College from 2010-2012, Maxwell oversaw the Griffins film exchange program, coordinated summer camps, and assisted with academic monitoring.

As a walk-on at Division I Siena College from 2005-2007, Maxwell helped the Saints reach the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Game while playing for current Iowa University coach Fran McCaffery. After transferring to Division III Utica College, the sharp shooting guard helped the Pioneers to a 35-23 record over the next two seasons. As a senior, he paced the Empire 8 Athletic Conference in 3-point FG shooting percentage while leading UC to a birth in the conference semifinals.

Maxwell has worked a number of summer basketball camps including those at Hilbert College, University of Iowa, Canisius College, Siena College and UAlbany.  He has also coached with one of the Buffalo area’s premier AAU programs while mentoring the Buffalo Titans 16-U team.

A graduate of Guilderland High School where he was the team MVP during the 2005 season, Maxwell earned a bachelor’s degree from Utica College in Public Administration, and a master’s degree in Sport Administration from Canisius College.
