Zachary Crane joins the Hawks coaching staff for his first season as a volunteer graduate assistant during the 2021-22 academic year.

Crane began his coaching career in the summer of 2020 as an intern for Team PAC, which is a travel organization based out of East Rochester, NY. During his time with Team PAC, Crane gave lessons to players between the ages of 13-18 and helped run team practices under the tutelage of former pro ballplayer Dave Roth. He also coached Team PAC 15U at multiple tournaments that summer.

In the summer of 2021, Crane served as the pitching coach for the Geneva Red Wings in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL), helping guide the team to a 24-18 record overall and a trip to the PGCBL semifinals. He will be returning in the Summer of 2022 as the pitching coach once again.

Prior to coaching, the Auburn, NY native spent four seasons on the pitching staff here at Hilbert after transferring in from Nova Southeastern in the spring of 2018. In 2018, he became the first freshman in program history to be named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team. The following season he led the AMCC with five complete games. His junior year, he became the eighth pitcher in program history to surpass the 100 career-inning plateau. As a senior, Crane was named to the 2021 NCAA Division III Players to Watch List by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Magazine. He capped off his career second all-time in program history in games started and finished in the Top 6 All-Time in 18 statistical categories.

Crane graduated from Hilbert in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Industry Management and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sport Administration at Canisius College.
