On February 26, 2025, Brian Becker was introduced as the new Head Coach for the Women's Ice Hockey team
Becker, who previously served as an assistant coach under Interim Head Coach
Emma Knoll in the 2024-25 season, will continue to work alongside Assistant Coach
Stephen Hurtubise as the team competes in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference beginning in the 2025-26 season.
"Brian has a great hockey background, with strong ties to Western New York and the southtowns," said Seil. "He did a great job with our staff this year, and I am excited to work with him in this new role as I know he will be outstanding mentor for our student-athletes."
He continued, "I also want to acknowledge
Emma Knoll and the leadership she provided this past year. She has a bright future ahead, and I'm thrilled she is still a critical part of our program."
Becker found a home in the southtowns having served three years as the St. Francis High School Prep Hockey head coach from 2021-2024. The St. Francis Prep team, competing in the Midwest Prep Hockey League, finished with a record above .500, the best record the Red Raiders had in 16 years in the MPHL.
With over ten years of coaching experience, Becker is ready for the new role. "I am thoroughly excited to be the new head coach at Hilbert College, and I would like to thank
Tim Seil and Laura Edholm, and the Athletics Department as a whole, for this opportunity," he said. "I am looking forward to the challenge ahead and helping to guide this program to future success."
Becker was also the varsity assistant and head junior varsity coach at Frontier High School. His 2019-20 team at Frontier made a +12 turnaround in record and finish the winter as the League Champions.
The Hamburg native has also served as a head coach for the Lockport Express (NA3HL), the Hamburg Hawks 18U (AAA), and with the Buffalo Stars in the Empire Junior Hockey League immediately after graduating from Fredonia State in 2012.
Becker opened his collegiate career playing in the SUNYAC league as a true-freshman for Fredonia State. He then shifted to the ACHA league after his rookie season and helped the Blue Devils advance to two consecutive appearances in the National Tournament.
Becker graduated with a double major in Business Management and American Politics in 2012 and currently owns and operates F45 Training in Hamburg.
