GREENVILLE, Pa. – Hilbert College Men's Soccer took on Thiel College at Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field this evening, falling 3-0 to the hosting Tomcats.
The Hawks stayed within a goal for much of the first half and created several scoring opportunities before halftime.
Hamso Dagane,
Vincent Nkurunziza, and
Brian Frazer all recorded shots during the opening 45 minutes as Hilbert entered the break trailing 1-0.
Thiel broke through in the 28th minute to carry a one goal advantage into the break.
The Tomcats extended their lead early in the second half with a goal in the 49th minute. Hilbert continued to press forward, generating four corner kicks and six shots after the break. Dagane put the Hawks' lone shot on goal on target in the 73rd minute, but the attempt was turned away.
Thiel added a third goal in the 85th minute to account for the final margin. In goal,
Colten Wolowski finished with four saves, including three in the second half.
Nkurunziza led the Hawks with four shots, while Dagane added three attempts and a shot on goal. Hilbert finished with a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks and recorded 10 total shots.
