KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Soccer traveled to Jephson Community Athletic Complex this evening to take Keuka as the Hawks continued non-conference play. Hilbert stayed within a goal through halftime behind a strong defensive effort and received a late goal from
Gavin Cline, but the hosting Wolves added a pair in the second half to take a 3-1 victory.
The Hawks faced sustained pressure early in the match, but goalkeeper
Colten Wolowski made three saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the deficit at just 1-0 heading into the break. Hilbert also generated scoring opportunities from
Vincent Nkurunziza and
Brian Frazer during the first half.
After allowing a goal in the 23rd minute, the Hawks entered halftime trailing by a single score despite facing seven shots and 11 corner kicks.
Keuka added two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to build a three-goal advantage. Hilbert responded midway through the half when
Hamso Dagane sent a pass to
Gavin Cline, who finished the chance in the 66th minute for his first career goal.
Wolowski added another save in the second half to finish with four stops on the evening. Nkurunziza led Hilbert with four shot attempts, while Dagane recorded two shots, an assist, and a shot on goal. Cline converted his lone shot on target for the Hawks' goal.
