Hilbert Unable to Slow Pitt.-Bradford in Non-Conference Loss

BRADFORD, Pa. – Hilbert Men's Lacrosse ran into a high-powered offensive effort on the road Friday evening, falling 20-2 to Pitt.-Bradford at Rathburn Field.

The Hawks drop to 2-5 overall while Pitt.-Bradford improves to 9-3 on the season.

The Panthers set the tone early, scoring five times in the opening quarter and adding five more in the second to take a 10-1 lead into halftime. The Panthers capitalized on extra-man opportunities and sustained offensive pressure, finishing with 80 total shots in the contest.

Hilbert broke through late in the second quarter when Kristopher Newman found the back of the net unassisted at the 5:34 mark, cutting into the deficit. Newman led the Hawks offensively with a goal on four shots on goal.

After a scoreless third quarter for Hilbert, Aidan Franko added the team's second goal early in the fourth, finishing off an unassisted opportunity to make it 15-2 at the time.

Defensively, Kody Moore turned in a busy performance in net, making 24 saves across 60 minutes of action while facing a constant barrage from the Panthers' attack.

Hilbert collected 16 ground balls in the game, with Eric Capling, Jonathan Roustum, and David Bolin each recording three. At the faceoff X, Alex Arthur went 4-for-24 against a strong Panther unit that controlled possession throughout the game.

Pitt.-Bradford was led by Luke Amberman's eight-point performance (5 goals, 3 assists), while Logan Watts added seven points of his own.

The Hawks return to WNY for a rematch against La Roche University April 8th.  Hilbert will honor their four seniors – Nathaniel Dell, Aiden Franko, Alex Krytus, and Kristopher Newman - prior to the 3 pm faceoff at St. Francis High School.
