Men's Lacrosse Wins Big Over La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Hilbert College Men's Lacrosse put together a complete performance Wednesday afternoon, pulling away early and never looking back in a 14–3 road victory over HCLC foe La Roche. The Hawks controlled possession from the opening faceoff and built momentum across all four quarters behind balanced scoring and strong defensive play.

Hilbert wasted little time setting the tone in the first quarter, scoring three of the game's first four goals to seize early control. Kristopher Newman opened the scoring less than a minute into play, and Ty Franko followed with a strike off an assist from Nathaniel Dell to make it 2–0. Jonathan Roustum added an unassisted goal midway through the frame to extend the lead to three. Despite a late Redhawks goal, Hilbert carried a 3–1 advantage into the second period.

The Hawks broke the game open in the second quarter with five unanswered goals. Aidan Franko finished a feed from his brother Ty Franko, and Newman continued his strong day with another unassisted finish. Hilbert capitalized on extra possessions and defensive stops, adding goals from Ty Franko and Eric Capling during a man-up opportunity before Aidan Franko closed the half with his second of the afternoon. Hilbert outscored La Roche 5–0 in the quarter to take an 8–1 lead into halftime.

Hilbert stayed aggressive after the break, extending the lead early in the third quarter. Dell scored twice in the frame, both assisted by Ty Franko, while Ty Franko added another unassisted goal as the Hawks continued to win key faceoffs and control ground balls. La Roche briefly responded with a man-down goal, but Hilbert maintained command and entered the fourth quarter ahead 11–2.

The Hawks capped off the win with another three-goal effort in the final period. Newman completed his hat trick with his third unassisted goal, Ty Franko added his fourth of the game, and Mike Hanlon finished the scoring late in the quarter with his first career collegiate goal. La Roche managed one final man-up goal, but Hilbert comfortably closed out the contest.

Ty Franko led all players with four goals and three assists for seven points, while Newman added three goals. Aidan Franko and Dell each scored twice, and six different Hawks found the back of the net overall. In goal, Kody Moore earned the win with six saves as Hilbert held La Roche to just nine shots on goal. Alex Arthur had a dominant day on faceoffs, winning 15 of 20.
