HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Lacrosse dropped their season opener, a 16-2 decision, to Keuka College on Tuesday afternoon at Frontier High School.
Keuka (1-0) opened the scoring midway through the first quarter and built a 4-1 advantage after the opening 15 minutes. The Hawks responded with a player-up goal at the 6:54 mark of the first quarter when
Olivia Horn finished a feed from
Caitlin Conrad to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Wolves used a strong second quarter to extend their lead, netting six goals in the frame to take a 10-1 edge into halftime.
Hilbert found the back of the cage early in the third quarter when
Lezly McComber tallied an unassisted goal with 12:14 remaining. However, Keuka answered quickly and added a half of dozen goals setting the final 16-2 result.
Horn and McComber accounted for Hilbert's two goals, while
Olivia Cleary dropped her first game of the season after making five save.
Summer Newman made her first collegiate appearance giving up on score in the game's final 3:56.
Sam Accurso recorded four draw controls and
Madison Matuszak and
Ellie Pembleton were awarded free position shots.
The Hawks return to action March 11th when they travel to Buffalo State University for a 4:00 pm non-conference tilt.
