HAMBURG, N.Y. — Hilbert Men's Volleyball dropped a straight-set decision to Buffalo State on Wednesday evening inside the Hafner Recreation Center, falling 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 16-25) in AMCC action.

Hilbert (3-17, 1-6 AMCC) showed flashes of competitiveness early, particularly in the opening set where the Hawks kept pace before Buffalo State (21-3, 8-0 AMCC) pulled away late behind efficient attacking.

The Bengals continued to build momentum throughout the match finishing their third set with a 0.65 percentage and finishing with a .432 hitting percentage while earning double digit kills each set.  The Hawks finished with 16 kills over the league game, earning six in the final frame with a .096 percentage for the night.

Offensively, Nikolas D'Andrea led the Hawks with five kills and added two blocks, while Justin Veal contributed three kills and a pair of service aces. Xavier Edwards also chipped in three kills in the effort.

At setter, Brinton McClain dished out 10 assists and recorded two aces, helping direct the Hilbert offense. Defensively, Mehkai Francis and Jacob Sehn paced the team with four digs apiece.

Despite the loss, Hilbert showed resilience from the service line, matching Buffalo State with four aces, although the Bengals recorded 21 service errors to Hilbert's nine.

The Hawks return to action in nine days when they welcome Penn State Behrend March 27th (7 pm) and then turn around to host Carlow March 28th at 1 pm.
