MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Hilbert College Baseball returned to action on Tuesday afternoon taking on Dean College at Ebbetts Field. Despite 11 hits and early scoring, Hilbert saw its three-game win streak come to an end with a 15-4 defeat to the Bulldogs.
Hilbert opened the game strong as
Joey Haynes ripped a leadoff double and later scored on
Dustin Hendrix's RBI groundout. Dean responded quickly, capitalizing on a triple to plate two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2–1 lead. The Hawks countered in the third when
Alex Ellison tripled and came home on a
Harley Hoag groundout to even the score at 2–2.
Dean seized momentum with a four‑run third, using a mix of singles, aggressive baserunning, and a run‑scoring double to move ahead 6–2. Hilbert continued to battle, narrowing the deficit in the fourth after
David Earsing and
Austin Wasily produced back‑to‑back singles and
Chase Porter followed by driving in a run. Ellison added to his standout day with a ninth‑inning RBI double, but Dean's offense had already built a substantial advantage behind an eight‑run sixth inning that broke the game open.
Haynes, Evans, Wasily, and Ellison each recorded multi‑hit performances, with Ellison finishing 3‑for‑4 including a triple and a double. On the mound, Jacob Kim‑Kubiak,
Johnray Hasfurter,
Joey Haynes, and
Garrett Brink all contributed innings against a Dean lineup that finished with 17 hits.
