BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's bowling team competed Sunday at the Buffalo Blizzard Cup, hosted at Towne Edge Bowling Center, squaring off against D'Youville University, Niagara University, and Roberts Wesleyan University in addition to a bye match.
Hilbert finished the day with an 0-4 record, posting a total pinfall of 4,025 across five team games for an average of 805.0 pins per match.
The Hawks opened the tournament against D'Youville and recorded a team score of 769. Hilbert followed with one of its strongest performances of the day against Niagara, rolling an 839. In the bye match, the Hawks tallied 781 pins before turning in scores of 818 against Roberts Wesleyan and 818 in the final match against D'Youville.
Brooklyn Hannah led the Hawks with a standout performance, totaling 888 pins for a team-best 177.6 average. Her series included a high game of 207 and three additional games of 171 or higher.
Thea Nahrebeski added a strong showing with 847 total pins and a 169.4 average, highlighted by a high game of 196. Paige Angle contributed 623 pins over four games for a 155.8 average, while Victoria Hanley finished with 761 pins (152.2 average). Paige Mullen rounded out the lineup with 758 total pins and a 151.6 average.
As a team, Hilbert continued to show consistency throughout the lineup, with multiple bowlers eclipsing the 150-average mark on the day.
The Hawks (28-47) will now turn their full focus to preparations for the upcoming AMCC Mega Match Tournament, set to begin March 20.
No. 5 Hilbert is slated to face No. 4 Penn State Behrend in a best-of-three Mega Match at Pine Plaza Lanes in Pittsburgh, Pa. The competition format will feature a traditional pinfall match, followed by a Baker pinfall match, and - if necessary - a best-of-seven Baker series to determine who advances.
