Hawks Volleyball Drops Two at Trimatch in Ohio

HIRAM, Ohio – Hilbert Men's Volleyball competed in a trimatch hosted by Hiram College on Saturday at Price Gymnasium, opening the day against Saint Vincent College before closing the event against the host Terriers. The Hawks showed flashes of offensive rhythm and defensive effort throughout the afternoon as they continued to gain experience early in the 2026 season.

Match 1: Saint Vincent 3, Hilbert 0

Hilbert opened the day against Saint Vincent College, falling in straight sets, 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.

The Hawks continued to improve offensively as the match progressed, recording 11 kills and a .200 hitting percentage in the final set. Michael Pozzuto and Justin Veal led the attack with seven kills each, while Austin Thurlow chipped in four kills and a service ace.

Brinton McClain finished the match with 22 assists, while Stephen Winans added two blocks at the net.

Defensively, Jacob Sehn recorded a team-high eight digs, with Garyson Gaud contributing six.

Match 2: Hiram 3, Hilbert 1

Hilbert earned a set victory but ultimately fell to Hiram, 3-1, in the nightcap match.

After dropping the first two sets, the Hawks responded with their strongest stretch of the day in the third set, posting a 25-20 win while hitting .348 as a team. Hilbert followed with an efficient .296 hitting percentage in the fourth set but was unable to slow Hiram's offense down the stretch.

Michael Pozzuto and Justin Veal once again paced the Hawks with 12 kills apiece, while Nikolas D'Andrea added nine kills, an ace, and a block.

Brinton McClain orchestrated the offense with 36 assists, and Stephen Winans anchored the net defensively with a team-high three blocks.

Michael Pozzuto also led the back row with 10 digs, while Jacob Sehn added nine.

The Hawks continue their road play when they travel to Elmira College February 11th for another non-conference match against the Soaring Eagles.
