ELMIRA, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Volleyball fell in straight sets to Elmira College tonight inside the Speidel Gymnasium.
The Soaring Eagles (7-3) earned the victory by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-16, while the Hawks move to 1-8 overall on the season.
Senior
Nikolas D'Andrea led Hilbert offensively with 13 kills (.458), accounting for the majority of the Hawks' 18 total kills in the match.
Justin Veal added four kills, one service ace, and one block, while
Michael Pozzuto chipped in a kill and three digs.
Setter
Brinton McClain directed the offense with 10 assists, and
Jacob Sehn contributed six assists and a team-high five digs.
Elmira hit an impressive .523 as a team, totaling 42 kills behind 34 assists.
The Hawks struggled to find their rhythm offensively as they were unable to stack more than two points together tonight, and, for the fifth time this season, Hilbert recorded only two service aces during the match.
The Hawks will travel this weekend for the first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match of the season at Carlow University Saturday, February 14th First serve is set for 2:00 pm.
