ERIE, Pa. - No. 4 seed Hilbert College saw its postseason run come to a close Thursday evening, falling 75-55 to top-seeded Penn State Behrend in the semifinal round of the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the Junker Center.
Hilbert (16-11) battled early, trailing just 33-26 at halftime after holding Behrend to 42 percent shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes. The Hawks connected on four three-pointers in the first half and stayed within striking distance despite being held without a free throw attempt before the break.
Penn State Behrend (19-7) seized control in the second half, getting the Hawks in foul trouble just four minutes in. The Lions shot a blistering 60.9 percent from the floor and outscoring Hilbert 42-29 over the final 20 minutes.
The Hawks offense sputtered at times as the Lions' zone defense slowed their attack. When Hilbert did attempt a field goal, the ball bounced everywhere but through the rim.
Behrend dominated the paint (42-26) and owned a 35-23 advantage on the glass, converting 12 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points.
Larry Morse, who earned a spot on the 2026 All-Tournament Team, led the Hawks with 19 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting effort while adding five rebounds.
Ari Jones chipped in 10 points, and
Ne'Sean Fowlks provided a spark off the bench with nine points, all coming from beyond the arc.
Hilbert shot 40.7 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three-point range, but were only awarded six free throws, hitting four.
Conversely, the Lions shot 50 percent overall and converted 15-of-20 from the charity stripe. Penn State Behrend placed three players in double figures, led by Jacob Dunkle's 23-point, 14-rebound double-double. Matthew McDonough added 21 points, while Nate Edwards contributed 15.
With the win, top-seeded Penn State Behrend advances to the 5:00 p.m. championship game of the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament, where the Lions will face the winner of the semifinal matchup between University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and La Roche University.
