NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Hilbert Bowling continued to hold its own against a field made up primarily of Division I and Division II programs Sunday at the Niagara Brunswick Classic today.
The Hawks secured a seventh-place finish after closing the tournament with a 4-1 playoff victory over Roberts Wesleyan.
Hilbert opened day two of Baker play with a 948-873 setback to William Smith before bouncing back with back-to-back wins. The Hawks posted a new single Baker match program record with a 992-971 victory over Daemen, highlighted by their highest individual game of the weekend — a 253 — in the win over the Wildcats. Hilbert followed with an 890-843 triumph against Penn State Behrend.
Mercyhurst halted the momentum with a 986-851 win, but the Hawks regrouped and knocked down a total of 8,042 pins to earn a playoff matchup with Roberts Wesleyan to conclude the tournament. Hilbert capped the weekend in style with a 4-1 victory to lock in seventh place overall.
Individually,
Thea Nahrebeski paced the Hawks with a 19.8 Baker average after finishing as a top-five bowler in Saturday's traditional competition.
Brooklyn Hannah followed with an 18.1 Baker average, while
Victoria Hanley averaged 17.5,
Paige Angle 17.0,
Paige Mullen 15.9, and
Arianna Heineman 10.3.
Hilbert (28-43) returns to action next Sunday at the Buffalo Blizzard Cup hosted at Towne Edge Bowling Center.
