NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Hilbert Women's Bowling went 1-4 on Day 1 of the Niagara Brunswick Spring Classic today.
Hilbert recorded a new season record after beating Merrimack College with a 906-700 score in the middle match of the day.
The Hawks dropped matches to Niagara (909-882), William Smith (979-869), to open the competition and then closed with losses to Roberts Wesleyan (925-859) and Daemen (958-920)
Hilbert produced one of their best overall performances after averaging an 887.2 over five matches while their opponents finished just seven pins better (894.2).
Thea Nahrebeski set a new record after knocking down 244 pins in the second match of the day against William Smith and she finished the day with an impressive 207.6 average, both program records.
Paige Mullen and
Brooklyn Hannah also scored finished with notable averages after they finished with a 205 and 206 score in a match, respectively.
The Hawks (25-41) returns to the lanes early tomorrow morning for three total pin fall baker matches before the best of seven baker match that will determine the overall tournament ranking. First approach begins at 9:30 am.
