Men's Basketball Picks Up Big Win

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Basketball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Saturday afternoon, rolling past Mount Aloysius College, 92-52, in AMCC action inside the Hafner Recreation Center.

Prior to the tip, the men's basketball team honored Ronnie Lewis, Josh Polk and student assistant coach Andy Herrick in a Senior Day Celebration at midcourt.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 14-9 overall and 7-7 in conference play, while Mount Aloysius drops to 4-19 (2-12 AMCC).

Hilbert wasted no time setting the tone, shooting 59.4 percent from the floor in the first half to build a commanding 48-22 lead at the break. The Hawks continued their efficient offensive attack in the second half, finishing the game at 53.6 percent overall and knocking down 13-of-30 from beyond the arc.

Larry Morse led the way with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Ne'Sean Fowlks provided a spark off the bench, pouring in 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Ari Jones added 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Iyan Bremer chipped in 13 points with three triples.

Jayden Montgomery orchestrated the offense with a career-high 12 assists to go along with nine points and eight rebounds as the Hawks assisted on 27 of their 37 made field goals.

Hilbert dominated in transition with a 22-7 edge in fast break points and outscored the Mounties 44-28 in the paint. The Hawks also forced 21 turnovers, converting them into 20 points.

Troy Tinch paced Mount Aloysius with 15 points, while Senique Jenkins added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Today's victory was pivotal for Hilbert as the Hawks strengthened their position in the AMCC standings and improved their chances at securing a higher seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Hilbert will return to the Hafner Recreation Center on February 18 to host Pitt-Bradford (14-9, 9-5 AMCC) in a key conference matchup. The contest marks a rematch of the December 3 meeting in Bradford, where the Hawks earned an impressive 99-84 road victory.
