HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Hockey fell 8–0 to unbeaten Nazareth on Friday afternoon in UCHC play at the Nike Base.
The Hawks played strong defensively in the opening frame, blocking eleven shots while goaltender
Jewely Monford made 18 stops in the game's first 20 minutes. However, the offensive pressure of the visitors would eventually pay off, as Nazareth opened the scoring late in the first period to carry a 1-0 advantage into intermission.
The Golden Flyers would use the late first period tally as momentum out of the break, adding four goals in the second period to extend the margin.
The nationally ranked Golden Flyers would tack on three more goals in the third period to close out the contest.

Jewely Monford and
Tia Card combined for 54 saves on the afternoon, facing sustained pressure throughout the contest. Monford stopped 27 shots in the opening 28:34 before Card entered in relief and turned aside 27 more over the final 31:26.
The Hawks battled defensively throughout the matchup, blocking 24 shots, led by seven from
Caitlin Conrad and five from
Jamie Bower.
Jacqueline Alaburda led the way offensively with a pair of shots and
Victoria Battaglia added a game-high 12 faceoff wins in the dot.
