PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Hilbert College men's volleyball team opened AMCC play in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, sweeping Carlow University in straight sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) at St. Joe's.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in conference action, while Carlow falls to 0-14 (0-3 AMCC).

Hilbert controlled the match from the start, hitting .500 in the opening set behind efficient offensive execution. In the match, the Hawks totaled 26 kills on 63 attempts for a .286 hitting percentage, while limiting Carlow to a .149 mark.

Nikolas D'Andrea paced the offense with a match-high 15 kills and added three total blocks. Stephen Winans chipped in three kills and matched D'Andrea with three blocks, while Austin Thurlow contributed two kills and two service aces.

Mehkai Francis orchestrated the attack with 20 assists and added two aces and four digs. Defensively, Michael Pozzuto led the Hawks with seven digs and two blocks, while Sam Rastelli added six digs.

Hilbert returns to the Hafner Recreation Center this coming Tuesday, February 17th when they host Houghton College for the second time this season.  The Hawks recorded a 3-2 win in the season-opener and will now be battling for an AMCC tally.
