Hawks Remain Unbeaten In League Play after 90-53 Win Over Altoona

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's basketball team delivered a dominant second-half performance to secure a 90–53 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over Penn State Altoona on Wednesday afternoon at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.

Hilbert (11–2, 4–0 AMCC) trailed briefly early in the contest but seized control late in the first half and never looked back, outscoring the Lions 58–28 after the break.

The Hawks shot an impressive 62.1 percent from the field in the second half and connected on eight three-pointers over the final 20 minutes to turn a competitive game into a runaway win.

After Penn State Altoona held a narrow edge midway through the opening half, Hilbert closed the period on a strong run to take a 32–25 lead into halftime. The Hawks then opened the second half with relentless defensive pressure and efficient ball movement, forcing turnovers and converting in transition to quickly extend the margin to double figures.

Hilbert finished the game shooting 46.3 percent from the floor while holding Penn State Altoona to just 31.4 percent shooting, including 13.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The Hawks also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lions 59-30, and held advantages in points off turnovers (23-17), fast-break points (24-15), and points in the paint (36-24).

Jaden Mitchell led all scorers with 20 points, going 6-for-14 from the field and 6-for-7 at the free-throw line. Larry Morse posted his seventh double double with a strong all-around effort pairing15 points and a team-high five offensive rebounds (10 overall), while Ronnie Lewis recorded his second double-double with 12 points and a team-best 12 rebounds. Ne'Sean Fowlks added 11 points and 10 rebounds to give Hilbert three double-digit rebounders in the contest.

Jayden Montgomery directed the offense with seven assists, and the Hawks received balanced scoring contributions throughout the lineup, including eight points from Sonny Williams and six from Iyan Bremer off the bench.

All 14 players placed their name in the stat sheet as the Hawks remained perfect in AMCC action (4-0).

Hilbert will travel to Pittsburgh this weekend to battle La Roche University January 10th in a 4 pm tip.
