ALTOONA, Pa. – Hilbert Men's Basketball dropped a 95–82 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference decision to Penn State Altoona on Saturday afternoon at Adler Arena.
The Hawks dropped to 12-7 overall and 5-5 in the league while Altoona recorded their third AMCC win and evened their record at 9-9 overall.
In a reversal of the first meeting between the two, Altoona put on a show in the first 20 minutes, hitting 7-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Hawks trailed 50–35 at the break before putting together a strong second half, scoring 47 points over the final 20 minutes. Despite shooting over 53 percent from the field in the second half, Hilbert was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Freshman
Iyan Bremer led all Hilbert scorers with 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers while adding four rebounds.
Ronnie Lewis followed with an impressive 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while freshman
Ne'Sean Fowlks chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
Junior
Jayden Montgomery filled the stat sheet with 10 points and a game-high eight assists, and junior
Larry Morse provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Hilbert finished the contest shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc, while forcing 19 Penn State Altoona turnovers. The Lions capitalized early, scoring 25 points off turnovers and shooting 56.3 percent in the first half.
Penn State Altoona was paced by Rasheed Daniels, who recorded a game-high 30 points. Kaden Claar added 17 points, while Mason Kargo dished out nine assists in the victory.
The Hawks will continue AMCC play with a 7:00 pm tip on Wednesday, February 4 at home against the 10-0 league-leaders Penn State Behrend.
