Cal Crosby enters his sixth year leading the Hilbert Men's Volleyball program and brings a squad filled with youth and experience into the 2026 season.
Five freshmen will join six upperclassmen for the Hawks that were placed fourth on the
AMCC Pre-Season Coaches Poll.
Senior
Nikolas D'Andrea and junior
Jacob Sehn were each named as AMCC Players to Watch and will look to provide leadership on and off the court for the Hawks.
D'Andrea appeared in 70 sets in 2025, tallying 203.5 points on 149 kills and 33 service aces. His 0.47 service aces per set marked a new single season program record and he currently leads the program with .39 service aces per set in his career. The 6-5 opposite has also tallied 117 digs and 41 total blocks defensively in his two years in royal and white.
Sehn enters his second season with Hilbert after tallying 184 digs and 58 assists from the libero position a year ago. Sehn appeared in 22 matches and 80 sets for the Hawks and earned four points off a pair of service aces and a pair of kills.
Justin Veal will look to carry the momentum of a strong freshman campaign into his sophomore season with the Hawks. Veal posted 170 points on 110 kills and 19 services aces in 2025. The 6-9 opposite/middle blocker also produced 61 total blocks, 25 digs, and 11 assists.
THE 2026 SCHEDULE

Crosby's squad will navigate a 13 game non-conference schedule before taking on each AMCC opponent twice to determine seeding for the postseason tournament.
Hilbert opens the season with a home tri-match on January 17, welcoming Houghton University at noon before taking on SUNY Poly at 4 p.m. The Hawks return to Hafner on January 28 for a 6 p.m. matchup against Elmira College.
A challenging road weekend follows with three matches at the Junker Center in Erie, Pa., beginning with Hiram College on January 30, and continuing with Geneva College and Grove City College in a Saturday doubleheader on January 31.
February brings a mix of home and away contests. The Hawks travel to Hiram College for a doubleheader on February 7 before visiting Elmira (Feb. 11) and opening AMCC play on the road at Carlow University (Feb. 14). Hilbert returns home for the team's conference home opener against Houghton University on February 17.
The Hawks will host another tri-match on February 21, facing Hartwick College at noon and SUNY Potsdam at 4 p.m. The month closes with a road trip to Utica for rematches with SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Poly on February 28.
Hilbert dives into a heavy conference stretch in March, traveling to Penn State Behrend (Mar. 4), Mount Aloysius (Mar. 6), and Penn State Altoona (Mar. 7) before returning home to host Buffalo State on March 18. The Hawks then welcome Penn State Behrend (Mar. 27) and Carlow (Mar. 28) in a key home weekend.
The regular season concludes with two AMCC matchups: a road contest at Houghton on April 1, followed by a home weekend hosting Mount Aloysius (Apr. 3) and Penn State Altoona (Apr. 4).
The AMCC Championship Tournament will begin with two semifinal matches on Wednesday, April 15
th, before the winners head to the championship match on Saturday, April 18
th.

Calvin Crosby will look to return the Men's Volleyball program back to AMCC postseason play for the first time since the program's first playoff appearance in 2022-23 under his leadership.
Crosby is coming off a record-setting season with the Women's Volleyball program after leading the Hawks to the AMCC final four for the first time in team history.
Joining Crosby on the sidelines is
Julia Dorr who assisted Crosby in the Fall with the women's team. The Clifton Park, N.Y. native graduated from Norwich University in 2023 with a degree in Architecture after playing three seasons for the Cadets (2019, 2021, 2022). The 5-6 defensive specialist appeared in 113 sets and graduated with 166 digs (1.47 d/s).
Dr. Amy Smith continues to support the men's volleyball program by serving as the team's Faculty Team Advisor. She is an additional source of academic support and serves as a resource regarding academic issues for the volleyball student-athletes and coaches. Smith's association with the department also creates a communication link between faculty, student-athletes, and coaches.
