Hilbert Splits Matches at SUNY Poly’s Wildcat Field House: 3-0 Win Over SUNY Canton Followed by 1-3 Loss to SUNY Poly

UTICA,  N.Y. — The Hilbert Hawks experienced a mixed day at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House on Saturday, securing a strong 3-0 victory over SUNY Canton before falling 3-1 to host SUNY Poly later in the afternoon.

Hilbert Defeats SUNY Canton 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-17)

Hilbert came out firing against SUNY Canton (7-11), showcasing a balanced and powerful offense along with disciplined defense to sweep the match in straight sets. Senior hitters Molly McKinnon and Lindsay Madigan each led the attack with nine kills, supported by Jenna Revak's six kills and four aces. The Hawks controlled the net with strong blocking from Lezly McComber (3 blocks) and solid contributions from Madigan and Meghan Balen.

SUNY Canton showed competitive spirit, led by Emerson Coulter and Abby Raven with six kills each, and Isabella Cruz's 13 digs on defense, but struggled to maintain momentum against Hilbert's steady pressure.

SUNY Poly Edges Hilbert 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-18)

In the evening match, Hilbert (11-7) faced a resilient SUNY Poly squad (6-6) in a hard-fought four-set battle. After narrowly taking the first set, Hilbert was unable to maintain the edge as SUNY Poly rallied to win the next three sets, including a nail-biting 27-25 third set.

Hilbert's Michaela Rice led the team with 10 kills and added two blocks, while Lindsay Madigan contributed nine kills, 17 digs, and 15 assists. Jenna Revak also played a key role with eight kills and 10 digs. Despite strong individual performances, Hilbert's attack was stymied by SUNY Poly's balanced offensive effort, led by Kassity Cruz's 22 kills and Grace Southwick's dominant serving with five aces.
