CRESSON, PA – Hilbert College Men's soccer fell 3-0 on the road to Mount Aloysius in the Hawks first AMCC match of the campaign Saturday afternoon at Kelly Field.
The Mounties struck early, opening the scoring in the 10th minute on a finish from Tanner Polcyn. Martin Donner doubled the advantage midway through the first half, converting off a corner in the 27th minute to send Hilbert into the break trailing 2-0.
Despite a second-half effort that saw Hilbert generate eight shots, following just one in the opening 45 minutes the Hawks couldn't find the back of the net. Mount Aloysius added an insurance tally in the 53rd minute when Levi Bryne capitalized on a build-up assisted by Donner and Gonzalo Terricabris.
Goalkeeper
Daniel Downes kept Hilbert within reach, recording five saves across 90 minutes. Offensively,
Hamso Dagane led the Hawks with a team-high four shots, while
Carter Burke registered a pair including one on target.
Mount Aloysius finished with a 19-9 edge in total shots and a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. Hilbert dropped to 3-3-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Mounties improved to 7-2-0 and 1-0 in the AMCC.
