Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Kara Rehbaum

Hawks Fall at Crosstown Rival

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Hilbert Men's Soccer suffered a tough 6-0 road loss to the red-hot Buffalo State Bengals (7-1-0) at Coyer Field.

The Bengals used a dominant first-half surge to put the game out of reach early, scoring five goals before halftime and adding one more in the second to seal the result.

Scoring Recap:
  • 18' – Zaccaria Gerosa opened the scoring for Buffalo State off a feed from Faisal Samim.
  • 19' & 24' – Diego Rivera struck twice within six minutes to push the Bengals' lead to 3-0.
  • 39' – Aney Djadou scored back-to-back goals just 13 seconds apart, capping a five-goal first half.
  • 55' – Lesedi Sekhobo added the final tally, assisted by Tapiwa Mushonga, who recorded two assists on the day.
Hilbert's Effort:

The Hawks were held to just one shot by Hamso Dagane in the match and were unable to generate any corner kicks or shots on goal. Goalkeeper Daniel Downes and the Hilbert backline worked under constant pressure, with the Bengals firing 23 total shots, including 12 on target.

Despite the scoreline, Hilbert showed discipline, committing only four fouls and picking up one caution in the match.

Hilbert concluded their non-conference action with a 3-2-1 record and now they have a week to rest and prepare for their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match next Saturday, September 27th at Mount Aloysius College.
