Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Andrew Loveless

Late Goal from Evans Earns Hilbert 1-1 Draw in Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Women's Soccer team battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road Wednesday afternoon, rallying from a second-half deficit to earn the result against Keuka College at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, sophomore forward Acadia Evans delivered the equalizer in the 78th minute, converting a through ball from Ja'Lynn Sanders to notch her second goal of the season. After winning the ball back for the Hawks in the midfield, Sanders sent Evans through on goal, who buried the ball past the Wolves' keeper to knot the game at one. The Hawks held firm defensively down the stretch to secure the tie and improve to 1-2-1 on the year.

After a scoreless first half, Keuka broke through in the 58th minute when Lydia Lane found the back of the net on a corner kick. Despite being outshot 19-9 overall, Hilbert made the most of its best chance of the game to salvage the draw.

Evans' late goal proved to be the turning point, giving Hilbert new life in the closing 15 minutes. The Hawks pressed late looking to pull ahead, but after a Mikaylah Nissan shot was stopped and a pair of Hilbert attempts went wide, the game ended with the goals split between the two squads.

Hilbert finished the game with 9 total shots (5 on goal), compared to Keuka's 19 (7 on goal). Keira McFarland made six stops in net, allowing just the one goal, as she continued her strong play between the pipes to keep Hilbert in the game.
