Mounties Take Win From Hawks

HAMBURG, N.Y.  – Hilbert Women's Lacrosse opened the game with a 1-0 lead before Mount Aloysius College found their offensive lanes and rolled to a 17-5 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory at Frontier High School.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Olivia Cleary frustrated the Mounties shooters after making point-blank saves each quarter as the sophomore goalie finished with 14 saves, seven off free position shots.
  • The Hawks defense showed a lot of grit as they recorded 17 caused turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jessee Jonathan finished a Samantha Accurso feed to the bottom of the net just six minutes into the game. The Mounties then went on a roll, scoring six unanswered hits before Ellie Pembleton converted a rebound-put-back past Mount Aloysius' goalie with 46- seconds left in the first quarter.
  • After the Mounties strung together four more goals, Olivia Horn scored a free position goal before the break, sending both teams to intermission with a 10-3 margin.
  • Mount Aloysius opened the third with three consecutive markers, but Alexandria Stoddard and Horn (a) hooked up for a man-up goal at the end of the third quarter and Horn scored the Hawks final goal at the start of the fourth quarter.
