ALFRED, N.Y. – Hilbert Women's Lacrosse, in the first meeting with a start up program, dropped a 14-2 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference defeat to Alfred State College tonight.
The Hawks found themselves in a deep hole by intermission but were able to keep pace with the Pioneers in the final two quarters, scoring twice.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sam Accurso put the Hawks on the scoreboard off an unassisted hit in the third quarter and Olivia Horn, scoring her eighth goal of the season, finished a Madison Matuszak pass to the back of the net in the fourth quarter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alfred State jumped out to a 9-goal lead by intermission, scoring five 2nd quarter goals.
- The Pioneers scored three minutes into the second half before Accurso finished with a good Hilbert clear for a score at 8:50.
- A-State padded their lead with four more points ahead of Horn and Matuszak hooking up for the final Hilbert marker at 6:17.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Olivia Clearly was credited with four saves, all in the first half.
- The Hawks finished with five shots, three on goal, and picked up 25 ground balls off Alfred State's 21 turnovers.
- Accurso led the Hawks with two draws and five different players were credited with one caused turnover.

Hilbert returns to Hamburg this weekend and will host La Roche University at Frontier High School in a 3 pm first draw control.
