Men's Lacrosse Falls In AMCC Action

HAMBURG, N.Y.  – Hilbert Men's Lacrosse suffered a 7-6 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss to Pitt-Bradford in both team's first meeting

The Panthers put points on the scoreboard each quarter and then held on for a one-goal victory at Saint Francis High School.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Joey DiMaria recorded six points after earning a game-high five goals and the Hawks revved-up their offensive production unleashing 40 shots, 21 on goal.
  • Griffin Miller finished with eight saves as the Hawks defensive core also forced a season-high 18 caused turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hawks found themselves trailing by two goals mid-way through the first quarter after sending several players to the penalty box.
  • DiMaria and Jason Sage worked for Hilbert's first score at 0:17 left in the first quarter; Bradford won the ensuring face off, but DiMaria chased the ball handler down, knocked the ball out of his stick, scooped it up and scored the game tying score with three seconds left in first session.
  • The Hawks played sound defense in the second quarter, but Bradford scored two late-quarter hits to go to half time up, 4-2.
  • The third session was low scoring, with the Panthers hitting at 9:30 before Ty Franko and DiMaria connected for a goal at 1:19.
  • The Hawks outscored Bradford 3-2 in the fourth but ran out of time to knot the game.  DiMaria scored all three goals, getting assists from Bryan Jasrzab (man up), Kristopher Newman, and Ethan Barlow.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Hilbert outshot Bradford 40-26, (21-15 on goal), went 21-of-24 on clears and forced Bradford into a 25-for-33 finish,
