PITTSBURGH, PA. - Women's Bowling suffered a 2-0 defeat to No. 1 Saint Vincent College in the Hawks' second match of the day in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Mega Match Championship Tournament.
No. 5 Hilbert lost 999-821 to the Bearcats in the team format but were in the total pin fall baker match until the final frame. The Hawks were seven pins away from forcing a best of seven baker match series at the end of the day. Saint Vincent won 916-910.
Julia Stutz was the high performer today finishing with a 180.5 average while
Jenna Angle (176.0),
Paige Angle (175) and
Victoria Hanley (142) provided solid support throwing all frames today.
Paige Mullen opened the tournament in the morning with a 141 as the Hawks' fifth bowler while
Elizabeth Dunford (168) finished the day.
As a team, the Hawks were ready for the challenge against Saint Vincent in the total pin fall baker match. Hilbert combined for a 910 score, just six pins fewer than the top seeded team.
Hilbert's strongest baker match of the day was in their second game against Saint Vincent when they earned a 47-pin win (226-179).
The Hawks return to action tomorrow morning with a 9:30 am match against No. 3 Pitt-Bradford. The Panthers recorded a 2-1 win over No. 6 Pitt-Greensburg this morning and then dropped a 2-0 loss to No. 2 William Smith College.
The winner of the Hilbert/Bradford match advances to play the loser of the 9:30 am Saint Vincent/William Smith match at 1:30 pm while the loser is eliminated.
