HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Lacrosse held a three-goal lead after three quarters but slowed their roll over the next 19-minutes en route to a 7-6 double overtime loss to the win-less Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA).
The Hawks dominated every stat line over the Trailblazers, (19 shot advantage, five fewer turnovers, 10 more ground balls earned, won 11 of 17 face offs and forced two more caused turnovers) but they stopped looking to score as the game progressed and settled for an overtime finish.
HIGHLIGHTS
Ty Franko led the Hawks with two goals (man-up) and added an assist, while

Kristopher Newman, and
Ethan Barlow recorded one hit a piece.
Joey DiMaria slapped two and Bryan Jasrzab added one assist in the first quarter while
Ty Franko fed
Ethan Barlow for the Hawks final marker at the end of the third period.
Taivaughn Roach continued to dominate in the faceoff X for the second game in a row winning 10-of-15 while also leading on the defensive side of the field with four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
Imari Jenkins played aggressive defense picking up three caused turnovers and
Mason Shehadi scooped five ground balls.
Griffin Miller finished with 12 saves in the 64:51-minute game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hilbert jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one quarter and added two more markers in the second to take a 5-2 lead to intermission.
- Both teams traded scores in the third quarter with MCLA trimming the difference to two goals before Hilbert stretched their lead back to three with 1:26 remaining.
- The Trailblazers packed the zone with their defensive coverage in the 4th quarter while stacking three consecutive goals together to force overtime.
- MCLA became aggressive on offense in the fourth as they out shot the Hawks 10-7, committed fewer turnovers, scooped more ground balls and earned one more faceoff win than the hosts.
- After a scoreless four-minute OT, MCLA won the faceoff at the start of the second OT period, called a timeout and then went one-v-one to the frame with an off-balance shot for the win.
