Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Kara Rehbaum

Men's Basketball Improves to 10-1, Sets New Record, Stays Unbeaten In AMCC Action

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Basketball continued it's historic run on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Carlow University, 77–55, at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center to set a new single-season program record with its 10th consecutive victory.

Hilbert (10-1, 3-0 AMCC) seized control early and never looked back, opening the game on a torrid pace and building a commanding 45–19 lead at the halftime break. The Hawks shot 50 percent from the field in the opening half and knocked down six three-pointers to put Carlow in an early hole.

Senior Larry Morse delivered another dominant performance, pouring in a game-high 23 points on 11-of-12 shooting while pulling down 13 rebounds to record his 5th double-double.

Jaden Mitchell added 21 points, connecting on five three-pointers, as the Hawks featured a balanced offensive attack throughout the afternoon.

Hilbert also shared the basketball effectively, dishing out 22 assists on 29 made field goals, led by Jayden Montgomery, who finished with 10 assists. The 6-2 junior continues to lead the NCAA in assists per game (7.76) and total assists after he recorded his fourth 10-assist game in the fall semester.

The Hawks owned the paint with a 38–18 scoring advantage inside and held a 44–38 edge on the glass.

All 16 Hawks put a mark in the stat sheet as 12 players recorded at least one point, 11 players with at least one rebound, nine with one steal each, and nine with at least one assist.

Carlow (1-11, 1-3 AMCC) was led by Tomasi Pavihi, who scored 17 points, but the Celtics were unable to recover after the Hawks exploded with a 45-19 advantage by the break.

With the win, Hilbert remains unbeaten in conference play, while cementing its place in the program record books with the longest single-season win streak in school history.  The Hawks will take a 15-day break from practice as they head home for the semester break to enjoy some much-needed down time.

Hilbert will host Geneseo State Saturday, January 3rd at 2pm in the Hafner.
