Aldaya Leads Hawks Against St. John Fisher

HAMBURG, N.Y. — Hilbert Women's Basketball hosted St. John Fisher this evening inside the Hafner Recreation Center for the team's last game ahead of the holiday break. The Hawks fell, 96-34 as the Cardinals shot a blistering 70% from the field in the contest.

Hilbert got a standout performance from Mia Aldaya this evening, as she posted a career-high 16 points to lead all scorers.

St. John Fisher started red hot to begin the game, as the visitors missed just eight shots in the first half to take a 52-13 lead into the break. Aldaya provided all five of the Hawks' first-quarter points, before Hailey Alba, Bianca Iten, Meghan Balen, and Learsi Sabala each added a bucket in the second frame.

The third quarter would bring Hilbert's best offensive stretch, highlighted by nine points from Aldaya. Iten (two) and Alba (one) would each provide points in the frame for the Hawks. However, the Cardinals continued to shoot lights out, making twelve of their 15 shots in the period to extend the advantage.

A LaDasia Leak three pointer, and layups from Iten, Jayla Jackson, and Aldaya would round out the Hilbert scoring in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks finished the contest with 14 offensive rebounds and nine steals as a team. Aldaya led the way offensively, while Iten (six points and two assists) and Sabala (two points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals) chipped in.
