ERIE, Pa. – Hilbert College dropped its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opener on the road Tuesday night, falling in straight sets (22-25, 9-25, 25-27) to Penn State Behrend at the Junker Center.
The Hawks (13-8, 0-1 AMCC) started strong in a competitive first set, but the Lions (14-5, 1-0 AMCC) maintained control throughout the match, using efficient offense and a dominant service game to secure their 14th win of the season.
Hilbert was led offensively by
Lindsay Madigan, who recorded 8 kills and added 11 digs.
Jenna Revak contributed 6 kills and 10 digs, while
Molly McKinnon chipped in 5 kills and an ace.
Jessee Jonathan paced the offense with 12 assists and added 2 aces, and
Michaela Rice anchored the front line with 5 blocks.
Despite a third-set rally that pushed the Lions to the brink, Hilbert was unable to close the gap. As a team, the Hawks totaled 26 kills and hit .044 on the night.
Penn State Behrend was fueled by a standout performance from Cadence Jones, who notched a match-high 22 kills while hitting .405. Anna Fetzner added pressure from the service line with 6 aces.
The Lions hit .232 as a team and outpaced the Hawks in nearly every statistical category, including kills (40-26), digs (59-54), and aces (8-5).
