HAMBURG, N.Y. – After trailing 2-1 midway through the match, Hilbert Women's Volleyball dominated La Roche University in sets four and five to sweep the Redhawks in Hamburg this month.
With the 3-2 AMCC victory, Hilbert improved to 14-8 overall which ties the most wins in program history. The Hawks evened their league record to 1-1 and dropped the 3-12 Redhawks to 0-1 in AMCC action.
Match Highlights (20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-8, 15-7)
- La Roche stacked seven points together and used the late-set momentum to carry them to an opening 25-20 set win.
- The Hawks, after trailing early in the second set, took a 9-7 lead and stretched it to 18-13 and 21-16 before earning a two-point victory.
- Hilbert found themselves down by six points (6-12) but rallied back to a 20-22 score before closing the gap to 1 point (23-24), yet the Redhawks recorded the third set win at the net.
- The Hawks dominated the fourth set, recording 13 kills and seven service aces for the 25-8 win and they carried that attacking attitude into the deciding set.
- After building an 8-4 lead midway through, the Hawks continued their polished transitions with five consecutive kills that built the 13-5 score and finally the 15-7 AMCC win.
