HAMBURG, N.Y.— Hilbert College Women's Soccer earned a convincing 3–0 victory over visiting Carlow University on Saturday afternoon, securing the Hawks' first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win of the season.
Freshman forward and back-to-back AMCC Offensive Player of the Week,
Ja'Lynn Sanders led the Hawks with two goals and an assist, powering a dominant offensive performance that saw Hilbert outshoot the Celtics 26–11.
Sanders opened the scoring just nine minutes into the match, finishing an
Evin Stauffer through ball in the top of the net to put the Hawks ahead early. Sanders struck again in the 35th minute, this time off an assist from
Michaela Olson. Olson played Sanders through on goal, where she calmly placed the ball behind the Carlow goalkeeper, giving Hilbert a 2–0 cushion heading into halftime.
The Hawks wasted little time extending their lead after the break. In the 48th minute, Sanders found a wide-open
Kendall Shetter on the back post, who found the back of the net to make it 3-0 — a score that would hold for the remainder of the match.
Hilbert's defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Keira McFarland, was sharp throughout. McFarland stopped all seven shots on goal to record her fourth shutout of the season.
Sanders finished with a game-high seven shots and two goals, while Stauffer added three shots on target and an assist. Shetter tallied her second goal of the year to go along with three shots.
With the win, Hilbert improves to 5–4–1 overall and 1–1–0 in AMCC play.
