AMCC Cross Country Championship Races This Weekend

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will take place this Saturday in Erie, Pa.

Penn State Behrend's 2K looping course will host the event, which annually rotates among participating AMCC institutions.

Defending champion Penn State Behrend enters the meet looking to claim its 17th men's conference title, while the Behrend women aim for their 15th championship.

Alfred State College sophomore Christian Wescott holds the top time in the conference this season, finishing the Houghton Highlander Invitational 8K in 25:17.9 on October 11. Teammate Max Knight, also a sophomore, recorded the second-best time of the year with a 26:03.9 at the same meet. Behrend freshman Ethan Vaughan turned in the third-fastest AMCC time this fall, running 26:39.5 at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. Wescott also owns the fourth-best mark - a 26:42.0 at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational - while Behrend's Aiden Reinsel rounds out the top five with a 27:10 finish, also at Rochester.

For Hilbert, freshman Thomas Roty has emerged as a strong contender, posting the 12th-fastest 8K time in the AMCC (27:34) at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on September 27. On paper, he ranks among the top seven runners in the conference this fall. Sophomore Alexander Scheer notched his season-best 8K at the same meet, finishing in 30:05.0.

Penn State Altoona reintroduced varsity men's and women's cross country this season, marking the program's first year of competition since 2015–16. Senior Victoria Scutti has made an immediate impact, leading the AMCC with the fastest 6K time of the fall - 23:43.8 at the Gettysburg Invitational on October 18. Alfred State junior Oli Kraynik ranks second (24:16.6 at Houghton), followed by Behrend senior Lindsey Hartle (24:33.4 at Oberlin). Behrend's Bethany Litwiler (24:53.6) and Kelsey Hanna (24:59.8), both recorded at Oberlin, round out the women's top five performances.

Injuries have reduced the depth of the Hilbert women's roster this season. International student Denisa Kaunerova will be the Hawks' lone representative, competing in her first 6K race at the championship.

The men's race will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's race at 12:00 p.m.

At the conclusion of the day, the All-Conference runners (Top 10 in each race) will be announced and the team winners will be awarded the AMCC Championship plaque.

2025 AMCC Men's and Women's Cross Country Champions apparel will be available in the AMCC Store for a limited time immediately following the conclusion of the championship! Championship apparel will be available for approximately three weeks following each championship tournament.
