ERIE, Pa. –
Julia Stutz led the Hilbert Women's Bowling team to an impressive 2-3 record on day one of the Grapevine Classic hosted by Penn State Behrend at the Lakeside Bowing Lanes today.
The senior right-handed thrower, who rolled a program-best 202 average through five matches, became the first Hilbert bowler to knock down 1,000+ pins in one day which also earned her a spot on the Grapevine All-Tournament Team, another first for Hilbert.
The Hawks opened the day with loss to Daemen University before they recorded a win against Pitt-Bradford. Penn State Behrend and Saint Vicent each finished ahead of the Hawks before Hilbert recorded a 30-point win over D'Youville University.
Hilbert knocked down a total of 4327 pins (865.4 average) vs their opponents who combined for 4364 total pin fall (872.8 average).
Julia Stutz opened her final semester on the lanes with a program best five-game average of 202.2 and fired the team's high score of 222 against Pitt-Bradford after recording a 200+ game in four of the five matches.
Victoria Hanley and
Thea Nahrebeski joined Stutz with a 200-game.
Hilbert, 2-3, will return to Eastland Bowling Lanes tomorrow morning for five baker matches against D'Youville, Pitt-Bradford, Daeman, Saint Vincent and Penn State Behrend.
