Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Kara Rehbaum

Carlow Bests Women's Basketball

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hilbert College Women's Basketball, after unleashing the most field goal attempts of the 2024-25 season, struggled to connect from the field and suffered a 68-30 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road loss at Carlow University

The Hawks attempted 61 shots from the floor and garnered the highest number of rebounds while committing the second-fewest turnovers this season, yet were unable to put points on the board as the Celtics evened the all-time series at 2-2 against Hilbert.

HIGHLIGHTS

Cianna Tobia made her first appearance as a Hawk and led Hilbert with 10 points.

Kelsey Schlagenhauf led with nine rebounds (4 points, 2 assists), Kayla Johnson chipped in eight points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes, and Kylie Morgan led the Hawks with two steals while adding six points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kayla Johnson knotted the game at 2-2 less than one minute into the opening quarter.   Chloe Champagne and Johnson finished the Hawks scoring as they slipped to a nine-point deficit after ten minutes.
  • Tobia tossed-in her first career point from beyond the arc and finished a Johnson-feed into two more points seven minutes into the second session.  Morgan scored back-to-back hits in the paint ahead of half time.
  • Tobia connected again behind the 3-point line while Johnson repeated that same feat eight minutes later.  Tobia sliced the margin to 20-points after beating her defender to the paint for an easy layup to finish the Hawks scoring in the third period.
  • Morgan, Schlagenhauf and Johnson went 5-6 at the foul line and Schlagenhauf concluded the Hawks scoring with 1:06 left in the league game.
GAME NOTES
  • The Hawks finished the game hitting 11-of-61 from the floor, 3-of-16 beyond the arc and 5-of-8 at the stripe.
  • Carlow didn't shoot the ball well, hitting 27-69 shots (39%), 5-of-23 from 3-point line (21.7%) and made 9-of-12 free throws.
