PITTSFORD, NY – Hilbert Men's Soccer traveled for their first road game today and ran into a red-hot Nazareth University Golden Flyers. The hosts kept the offensive pressure on the Hawks all game and came away with a 9-1 win in Rochester.
Jason Vullo's late-game score gave the Hawks their first mark of the season and foiled Nazareth's clean sheet attempt.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Flyers were called for back-to-back off-sides very early in the game before
Daniel Downes earned back-to-back saves. After ten-minutes of scoreless action, Naz got on the board first and then set the pace of the game, adding goals in the spurts as they built a 5-nil lead by the break.
Daniel Downes was very active in the opening half, making seven saves while facing 17 shots.
The Golden Flyers finished their scoring by the 71st minute before
Jason Vullo took a
Jacob Donner pass to the back of the net at 79:14.
GAME NOTES
- Downes recorded nine saves and D'Andrea made three saves in his collegiate debut in goal over the last 27 minutes of the non-conference contest.
- Cam Murdie, Luciano Gallo and Chris Smith were credited with shots on goal while Donner's attempt was off target.
