Football Wraps up Non-Conference Play at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Hilbert College Football traveled to David Person Field this afternoon for the team's final non-conference matchup of the season as they took on Lycoming College. The Hawks were able to end a pair of Warriors' drives with interceptions, but points on their other seven drives led to a 48-0 Lycoming victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
An opening drive Lycoming touchdown, paired with a short field goal drive after a Hilbert fumble saw the hosts get out to a 10-0 advantage in the first quarter. Two straight touchdown drives from Lycoming and back-to-back punts by Hilbert resulted in a 24-0 lead for the Warriors. Lycoming took advantage after another Hilbert fumble with three more points as time expired in the half to take a 27-0 lead to the break.

Sherrad Patterson II ended the first Lycoming possession of the second half after just two plays with his first career interception. Following the pick, the Warriors' offense got back on track with two more touchdowns before the quarter ended to head into the fourth quarter up 41-0.

After another touchdown from the Warriors to begin the fourth, Da'von Cockrell became the second Hawk to record his first career interception in the game with 3:25 to go in the contest.
With the ensuing Hilbert possession coming up empty, Lycoming would take this one 48-0.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Mike Hanlon paced the Hilbert offense with 52 rushing yards on 20 attempts.
  • Cockrell's career day led the defensive efforts of the Hawks as the sophomore DB recorded eight tackles, including one for a loss to go along with his first career interception.
  • Santawan Stackhouse, Patterson II, and Mike Moreland each chipped in with tackles for a loss.
UP NEXT
Hilbert gets back to Empire 8 Conference action next week when the team travels to Alfred, NY. The Hawks will take on the Saxons from Alfred University at Yunevich stadium on Saturday, October 5th at 1 PM.
