HAMBURG, N.Y. - Hilbert College Women's Volleyball earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over Elmira College tonight.

The Hawks recorded the program's first victory ever over the Soaring Eagles - dating back to the 1999 season - just as they head towards the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference portion of their 2024 schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks started fast in the opening set, building a 7-1 lead which they stretched to 11-4 and 18-10 before they outlasted the Soaring Eagles for the first set victory.
- Hilbert looked in control in the second set but Elmira pulled with one point (16-15) and two points late (22-20) but the Hawks took the 2-0 lead off a service ace for the win.
- The momentum shifted to Elmira in the third set, as the Soaring Eagles scored points off transition rallies and Hilbert miscues at the net as they took the set by 10 points.
- The Hawks got back to business in the fourth set, scoring four points off kills and two from the service line (14-7) before Elenor Rybicki served the final 11 points for the win. Â
Molly McKinnon recorded 10 kills with only three errors (13 digs) while
Katie Kociszewski finished with five kills, two service aces, two solo blocks and two block assists.
Elenor Rybicki led with 17 digs, a team-high four aces and added three blocks along with four kills and
Natalie Ruhlmann chipped in 14 digs.
Lynndee Ickes collected eight kills (0 errors) and four block assists while
Jessee Jonathan was credited with 30 assists, two block assists and 11 digs.

Hilbert (2-12) hits the road next week for a non-conference game at Alfred State College October 2nd before they return to the Hafner Recreation Center for their first league game against ASC on the 8th of October.
