HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert Men's Soccer hosted Buffalo State this afternoon in a non-conference matchup. Six goals in a 30-minute span from the Bengals in the first half would be enough to hand the Hawks the 6-0 loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bengals wasted little time getting shots to the Hilbert cage in this one, as Buffalo State recorded the first shot of the game just five seconds in, off the opening kickoff. The game's first goal came just five minutes later from a Bengals' corner kick. The header seemed to open the floodgates for the Bengals, as the next 30 minutes of the contest saw five more Buffalo State goals, including three withing five minutes of each other. Despite the offensive onslaught, Hilbert goalkeeper
Daniel Downes was still able to make six stops in the opening 45 minutes.
After 20 combined shots in the first half, the game calmed down in the second half with nine total shots and just four on target.
Carter Burke sent the lone Hilbert shot on target while Downes made three more saves on the other end.
