ERIE, PA – Hilbert College Softball traveled to Pennsylvania to take on Penn State Behrend this evening in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader. The hosting Lions showed why they have won the last six AMCC regular season titles with a two-game sweep of the Hawks to improve to 4-0 in the conference.
After four early runs by Hilbert to tie the game in the second inning, twelve straight Behrend runs contributed to a fifth inning end to game one with the Lions taking it 16-4.
Behrend shut down the offense of the Hawks in game two, holding Hilbert to just one hit and three total baserunners in a 7-0 win.
Game 1:
After Hilbert failed to score in the top of the first, Behrend opened the scoring with four runs in the home half of the inning. Three runs and an error led to the early 4-0 lead for the Lions.
The Hawks were able to answer in the top of the second with four runs of their own. Two errors, and a
Kaitlin Stolowski 2 RBI single evened the score at 4-4.
Behrend got a run in the bottom of the second to regain the lead, and seven runs in the bottom of the third opened the game up and gave the Lions a commanding 12-4 lead.
Four more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a homerun, extended the lead to 16-4. The game concluded by mercy rule after Hilbert went scoreless in the top of the fifth.

Game 2:
A leadoff single, two straight triples, and a sacrifice fly saw Behrend jump out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Victoria Hanley led off the top of the second with a single, but three straight outs denied the Hawks of an immediate answer the Behrend runs.
Hilbert starter
Alana Yadov did her best to keep the Hawks in the game, holding the Lions scoreless for four consecutive innings after the three-run first inning. However, the Behrend starter was equally impressive as Hanley's single in the second would be the only Hilbert hit of the contest.
Behrend got four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth before blanking the Hawks in the top of the seventh to hold on for the 7-0 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Hanley recorded the lone Hilbert hit of the game.
- Samantha Heppel and Makenna Smith each reached base on walks.
- Yadov pitched all six inning for Hilbert, striking out five Lions.
