Men's Lacrosse Falls to Mount Vernon Nazarene

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Men's Lacrosse hosted Mount Vernon Nazarene this afternoon in a nonconference matchup. The offense of the Hawks went cold after an early lead, allowing the visiting Cougars to come away with the 14-3 victory.

Mount Vernon Nazarene got on the board first, but the Hawks responded with a pair of goals to take an early lead. Joey DiMaria and Matthew Kennedy each found the net after assists from Aidan Franko to put Hilbert up 2-1 with just over three minutes to go in the opening quarter.

However, the Cougars got three goals in the final 2:18 of the quarter to regain the lead and take the momentum heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter was all Mount Vernon Nazarene as the Cougars got the only five goals of the quarter to extend their lead to 9-2 heading into halftime.

The goals slowed down out of the break, as only two goals were scored in the third quarter, but they both belonged to Mount Vernon Nazarene to extend the advantage to 11-2.

The Cougars found the back of the net three more times in the fourth quarter for a 14-2 lead. Aidan Franko's third assist of the game set up Ethan Barlow's first career goal to end the 13-0 run of the Cougars. The Barlow goal was the final action of the contest as the Hawks fell 14-3.
